XRP plunges below $1.30 as $889 million crypto wipeout puts $1.25 in play

Like the broader cryptocurrency market, XRP has underperformed over the last 24 hours.

The token briefly dropped below the $1.30 level during the London session after losing more than 4% of its value.

The bearish performance comes after disappointing US inflation figures weighed on an already fragile cryptocurrency market.

According to the official data, September core consumer prices rose 0.3% month-over-month, exceeding analyst expectations by 0.1 percentage point.

Annual headline inflation also accelerated, climbing from 3.4% in August to 3.7% in September as higher energy prices contributed to renewed price pressures.

The release prompted traders to reassess the Federal Reserve’s next move. Analysts now put the probability of an October rate hike at 50%, up from 25% beforehand.

Higher borrowing costs can tighten financial conditions and reduce demand for speculative assets. For XRP, the change in expectations compounded recent selling pressure and brought nearby support levels into sharper focus.

Flat ETF flows leave XRP without fresh buying support

XRP-linked spot exchange-traded funds recorded zero net flows for three consecutive sessions. However, the funds recorded a $740,410 inflow on Wednesday.

The figures suggest that buying and selling through those products were broadly balanced, leaving little net demand to help absorb the latest market decline.

In addition to that, the broader cryptocurrency market recorded long liquidations of $889 million in the last 24 hours, with XRP accounting for roughly $14 million.

Further price declines could increase pressure on leveraged bullish positions, potentially triggering additional liquidations and amplifying short-term volatility.

For XRP, a return to positive ETF flows would more clearly indicate that investors are using the pullback to build exposure.

Separately, XRP treasury company Evernorth made its Wall Street debut during the week. Its shares, trading under the ticker XRPN, have underperformed since Wednesday following the inflation release.

The stock’s decline reflected the difficult backdrop facing crypto-linked investments as investors adjusted their interest rate expectations.

XRP’s break below the 200-Day EMA weakens its outlook

XRP’s technical position deteriorated after it fell below its 200-day Exponential Moving Average again on Monday.

Trading below this widely watched trend indicator raises questions about the recovery’s strength and leaves buyers needing to regain momentum.

The bearish performance over the last 24 hours has pushed XRP below the $1.32 support level.

As the selling pressure persists, the next significant downside level now stands at $1.25. This demand zone is a crucial barrier against a deeper pullback.

Failure to hold $1.25 could bring $1.10 into focus, although that scenario depends on sellers first breaking the next major support level.

The immediate outlook therefore rests on whether buyers can defend $1.25 as inflation concerns weigh on sentiment.

Sustained demand and a broader market improvement would be needed to reduce the risk of a deeper correction.
