Zcash holds near $1,400 as ETF outflows raise downside risk

Share

Zcash is attempting to stabilize near $1,400 on Wednesday after a sharp retreat from the recent high of $1,698.

The privacy-focused cryptocurrency trades around $1,412 following three consecutive days of losses totaling approximately 15%.

Although the decline has paused, weakening fund flows and bearish short-term indicators suggest buyers have yet to regain control.

Attention is turning to whether ZEC can defend the area around $1,300 or recover above nearby moving averages before another wave of selling develops.

ZCSH outflows interrupt strong early demand

Grayscale’s Zcash fund, trading under the ticker ZCSH, recorded $8.12 million in outflows Monday, according to SoSoValue data.

Tuesday brought no net inflows, leaving the fund without a fresh positive contribution after the withdrawal.

The figures mark a change from the strong demand recorded earlier in its trading history.

ZCSH recorded $21.83 million in net inflows during August and had accumulated more than $250 million in its first month of trading.

Those totals show that the recent outflow remains modest compared with accumulated investment.

Nevertheless, the shift warrants attention because continued withdrawals could weaken a source of demand that accompanied Zcash’s rally.

Two sessions alone do not establish a lasting reversal in investor appetite.

Further flow data will help determine whether the slowdown reflects temporary positioning or a more persistent reduction in demand.

The softer flows came just ahead of ZCSH’s 3-for-1 forward share split, which began trading on a split-adjusted basis Wednesday.

The split changes the number and price of shares but not the underlying value of investors’ holdings.

For ZEC, the immediate issue is whether demand resumes following Monday’s withdrawal and Tuesday’s flat reading.

Zcash technical forecast: Four-hour chart keeps sellers in control

Zcash’s short-term technical structure remains under pressure.

On the four-hour chart, ZEC trades below the 100-period exponential moving average at approximately $1,425 and the 50-period EMA near $1,494.

These averages now form nearby obstacles to a recovery.

The 200-period EMA at $1,254 sits below the current price and provides a deeper reference point for the broader structure.

Momentum indicators also favor caution. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence indicator remains in negative territory with a bearish profile, while the Relative Strength Index stands around 41.

That RSI reading suggests subdued buying momentum. It leaves room for further weakness without indicating that a rebound must occur immediately.

The September 9 high at $1,296 is the next notable downside level, placing the immediate support test close to the psychological $1,300 mark.

A move from $1,412 to $1,296 would represent a decline of roughly 8%.

Below that, the 200-period EMA near $1,254 offers another potential support area, approximately 11% beneath the current price.

On the upside, buyers first need to reclaim $1,425. A sustained recovery above that level would bring the stronger $1,494 barrier into focus.

Clearing both moving averages would improve the short-term outlook and could open a path toward the September 23 high near $1,679.

Until then, rallies remain vulnerable to renewed selling, with fund flows and the response around $1,300 likely to shape Zcash’s next move.
